Art Goals for 2025

Even though I stopped making New Year’s Resolutions in January and firmly believe that the year doesn’t actually start until March, I can’t resist dreaming about my goals at this time of year - I mean everyone’s doing it!

I want to make creativity a much bigger part of my life this year. Last year, I put a lot of my art practice on the back burner as I worked through some scary health issues. Now that I’m feeling much better and I have a brand new studio space in my apartment, I’m ready to get back to being creative in all kinds of ways.

One of my big goals is filling up empty and partially full notebooks so I took some time today to make this fun list. I imagine I’ll color in the letters as I accomplish the goals. Some of my goals are really specific and others are more general attitudes I want to adopt towards creativity in 2025. I have an idea to spend about 10 hours a week in my studio, working on whatever that time entails. I’m working on a way to track that, so I can keep myself accountable.

At the top of my list it says “slow down and think about it”. This year especially, I’m trying to live more in the present moment after spending a long time living in the future and the past in recent years (more on that later). And I’m hoping to use this place as a creative journal this year. I’m not on any other social media and I’m limiting interference from the outside, tuning in to my own frequency. But I can’t help but want to share a little of what I’ve been working on. It will also be a good excuse to document, and take more photos and videos.

Here’s my list of Art Goals for 2025:

✧˚ · . Continue my deep dive in SoulCollage®. SoulCollage® brought me so much joy in 2024 and I want to get even more out of it this year.

✧˚ · . Fill up my huge art journal (a lofty goal).

✧˚ · . Record a song with my dad.

✧˚ · . Finish my Best Books of 2024 series

✧˚ · . Commit to daily morning pages (fingers crossed)

✧˚ · . See more art IRL

✧˚ · . Use all of my BIG watercolor pad (it’s so luxurious)

✧˚ · . Do some resin experiments. I was given a bunch of resin and I want to try some new stuff with it.

✧˚ · . Use my stash. More on this in a later post but I’m doing a no-buy year for art supplies.

✧˚ · . Fill up my empty notebooks

✧˚ · . Do one zine project

✧˚ · . Make one digital art project (tbd!)

✧˚ · . Make more art with friends. Friends art nights!

✧˚ · . Use The Coyoteverse as a creative journal - writing, photos, and video.

✧˚ · . Work on a series about astrology

✧˚ · . More writing in all ways - diaries, reviews, critiques, poems, short stories, thoughts!

✧˚ · . Making and doing for the fun of it!! (BIG BIG BIG ONE).

So that’s my list. I feel like this is a good list that feels doable, exciting to me creatively, makes me feel inspired, and has a good mix of concrete goals and habits of mind.

Tell me your creative goals for 2025! What are you working on? What do you want to accomplish? This is gonna be a creative year - I’m feeling it! *ੈ♡⸝⸝🪐༘⋆
